Event: Matthews Alive Parade and Recruitment Table Where: Downtown Matthews (TBD) When: Aug 31, 2019, 8am - 5pm We have secured a slot in the Matthews Alive Parade on Saturday, Aug. 31st. The parade will be from 9:30 – 10:30 am but we will need to be in place at 8:30… not sure yet about the staging area site yet but will let everyone know as soon as we hear. We will also have a table at Matthews Alive for recruitment. This is a Pack event and would love to have all of scouts and their families out there... please use the following signup genius to sign-up for the parade and recruitment table: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050E4DAEAB2CA20-pack The theme this year is “Attitude of Gratitude… What are we Thankful for?” They are encouraging all units to promote the Thankful theme. We will have a parade banner that might read- Proud of Our Country and the Freedom that it provides. Here is what we have planned so far… • We will need about 20-25 people (boys from Pack and Troop, adult leaders, parents and siblings) • All Scouts/Scouters should be dressed in full Class A uniforms… no blue jeans please. • We will have a 3’ x 8’ theme banner for the front boys to carry, along with 2- 3’x5’ US flags on poles • We will need about 12 boys/adult/parents to walk on the sides of the road flanking our parade unit. Some will carry smaller flags, others will hand out hard candies and post card size invitations to our Pack. • Remember, we cannot throw the candy… they must be handed to the crowd for safety • The bus will follow behind the lead flag/banner unit. Several boys/adults will wave flags out of the windows. • Frank Burnett will be our bus driver • It would be helpful if several of our Cubs could make handmade posters to carry and promote our theme. Jessica White is heading this up.
