SFF drop off is quickly approaching! By now, all bags should be distributed in your territory. Thank you for all of your efforts!!! Here are a few reminders... Saturday 2/1: 1. The location for drop off is Trinity Presbyterian church 3115 Providence Rd, Charlotte, NC 28211 2. Your scout is to be in their Class A uniform and hat if they plan to stay and help separate food. 3. Food collection starts at 9am and should be over around 2. - All other scouts should start arriving at 8:30 am to help with sorting. -Cafe 118 will be set up for some yummy treats and refreshments. -There is a small chance that there could be a few rain showers early on Saturday so please have your rain gear ready. Sunday 2/2 Last year, 2,000 pounds of food was brought in on our Monday Troop meeting. This year, Mr. Averett will be at Trinity Presbyterian Church from 12:15pm to 1:15pm to collect food if you can not make the drop off time on Saturday. We would like to have a scale but there is a chance that we will not have one so please weigh your donations before you arrive, just in case. Please, only use this option in you absolutely can not make Saturday. We will not have as much man power for drop off and sorting. A few extra bags are OK to bring on Monday BUT please make every effort to drop off either Saturday or Sunday if you can't make Saturday. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out! See you all Saturday! YIS, Maria Swinson Troop 118

This Tuesday January 21st Scouts will receive bags for our Scouting for Food efforts. Each scout will get a territory to distribute their bags. This is one of our community service projects which benefits local families that are in need of food through Loaves and Fishes. Each year Pack and Troop 118 leads the way in the most pounds of canned food collected in our district. Our goal is 22,000 pounds collected. I would like to see 100% participation in this effort. Distribution of Bags January 24 Friday through January 26 Sunday Each scout will get a territory to distribute their bags. Bags should be hung on door knobs of homes. Please do not use mail boxes. Painters tape can be used to hang bags to doors. Attached is a copy of the flyer you can use with your scouts name and a phone number (parents number is best). You will need to print copies and attach to your bags you distribute. We suggest brightly colored paper so that your bags are easily identified on pick up day. Pick up Day February 1st from 9 to 12noon Go back to your distribution area and pick up the bags of food. There are other Packs and Troops participating so on pick up day if you see a bag that belongs to them please leave and only retrieve ones you have left. Bring filled bags to Trinity Presbyterian Church 3115 Providence Rd between 9-12 Bags must be picked up. 1/24 Friday through 1/26 Sunday Distribute bags to your scouts designated area. 1/31 Friday afternoon or 2/1 Saturday morning Scout will pick up the bags he dropped off. 2/1 Saturday All SFF bags will be dropped off at Trinity Presbyterian Church 3115 Providence Rd between 9-12. Make sure you drop off bags with Pack/ Troop 118. Your food weight will be totaled there. IMPORTANT**** Your scout can distribute a few bags on the street they live on. Please use discretion on this. Drivers Get Ready to Race!
This Friday the 24th is weigh in for your derby car for 6pm to 8pm in the Holy Grounds Room. Please remember that you must have your car weighted and register on this night in order to race. We need a couple of volunteers to help with the process. Reply to this email if you can help. Saturday the 25th is Race Day. Race events will begin at 5pm. Dinner will be served. The pack will provide Hot Dogs. Here is the sign up genius link to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C044EAFAD2B0-pinewood. We will begin set up at 3pm in the gym so again volunteers would be greatly appreciated. I can't wait to see all the great designs and fast cars! Good evening Pack 118 and Happy New Year!
Our next meeting is this Tuesday Jan. 7th at 6:30pm. We will be cutting our Pinewood Derby Cars. Please read the following about design, cutting and dates. See you there. PINEWOOD DERBY We will meet again in the New Year on January 7th for our first cutting session for the Pinewood Derby cars for the Webelos, Arrow of Light, and Girls Dens. Second cutting date is January 14th for the Tiger, wolf, and Bears Dens. Remember to spend some time with your Scout to have a design in mind. The Pinewood Derby will be held in the Church gym on Saturday January 25th. Weigh in of the cars will be on Friday the 24th in the Holy Grounds Room adjacent to the gym from 6 to 8pm. This is when we do final adjustments and attach the wheels. Once weighted and check in you do not have access to your car. On a side note if you plan on painting your car it's best to have your final coat done a couple of days prior to weigh in so that it is not tacky. Awards are given for first and second place for each den, over all Champion, and Best in show so use your creativity! Good evening Pack 118 and Happy New Year!
